# Instant Information Model

The Instant Framework (theinstantframework.com) by Falcra (falcratechnologies.com)

An AI skill and template that produce an Information Model document for an application once it is built: what information the application holds, what it means, where it comes from, who owns it, how it is protected and how it maps to the database. It is written for your organisation's architects, so an application built quickly with AI arrives with the documentation architects expect.

Why it matters: AI builds an application in days, but architects still need to understand its data before they accept it, connect other systems to it or support it. This gives them that, from evidence. Every definition says where it came from (an approved requirement, the code, the running application, or an assumption still to be confirmed), and nothing is filled in from what applications like this usually contain.

## What's in the download

- `instant-information-model/SKILL.md`: the skill. It tells the AI how to produce the model and the rules it must follow.
- `instant-information-model/template.md`: the Information Model document template, 19 sections from document control to change history, with diagrams in Mermaid.
- `instant-information-model/attributes-template.csv`: the attribute catalogue, one row per attribute, for import into your architects' tools.
- `README.md`: this file.

Its companion is the **Instant Data Model**, also a free download: how the information is stored, with a data dictionary and schema export, for DBAs, developers and support. Run them together and they reconcile.

## How to use it

1. **Install the skill.** Copy the `instant-information-model` folder into your AI coding tool's skills folder. For Claude Code that is `~/.claude/skills/` (all projects) or `.claude/skills/` (one project). Tools without skills can use `SKILL.md` as a prompt, with the template attached.
2. **Ask for it after the build,** in the project: "Produce the information model for this application." The AI reads the requirements, decisions, schema and code. It changes nothing.
3. **Give it its sources.** It works best with the approved requirements or user stories, decision records, the database schema and migrations, and integration contracts. If your organisation has an enterprise information model or glossary, supply it, and the AI maps to it.
4. **Review the gaps.** Everything marked ASSUMPTION or "Not specified" is listed in section 17 with the role that should answer it. Your experts and architects answer those, then a named person reviews the document and changes its status from Draft.
5. **Regenerate when the schema changes.** The document names the version it describes; don't patch it by hand.

It works with any application and any database. It never needs production data, and never copies real data into the document.
